Frequently Asked Questions We welcome the opportunity to answer your questions and those of your organization. Below are some common questions addressed by the inventor of the e-MCR™ system, Mr. Gerald A. Theis, however, you are encouraged to contact us with any specific concerns or to request additional information. What is a My Crisis Record (MCR™)? The MCR™ is a tool that you can use to collect, track, and share past and current information about your health or the health of someone in your care. Our MCR™ will save you the money and inconvenience of repeating routine medical tests. Even when routine procedures do need to be repeated, your MCR™ can give medical providers more insight into your My personal health story.
What type of medical information is contained within the MCR™? Since you coordinate, manage, and control access to your health history, how much information you include, is up to you. We recommend you document information that would be vital to your treatment in all situations such as:
What are the benefits of having a MCR™? The MCR™ allows you to take control, be empowered and engaged in your health care and well being. You are responsible for your health and MCR™ gives you the necessary tools and resources to assist you as we begin to move to a consumer as opposed to a provider driven healthcare system. It is inevitable that the MCR will be a critical component in the evolution of health information management.
What makes your MCR™ different from others’ PHRs? Our MCR™ puts an emphasis on crisis situations. Our product is the only one in the industry that can provide the On Demand Crisis Response Transmittal Service (ODCRTS). This service allows first responders to gain access to your vital information at the scene and in emergency rooms. No other provider of PHRs can offer this service because it is protected by patent law in the United States and in Foreign Countries under MCR Global Inc.. How do I allow my physician, family member or other healthcare providers to access my online My record? Any member can access his or her MCR through a secure, members-only section of the web site. Through the account management feature, each member will have the ability to identify who has permission to view the individual’s My record. In keeping with current privacy regulations, no healthcare provider should have access to health information without specifically being authorized. Our method follows all current regulations and is HIPAA compliant. Does the MCR replace the medical records in my doctor’s office? No, but it will greatly enhance the medical records that your physician already has. While a primary purpose behind your MCR is to make it simple for you to share your MCR in situations where your physician is not available (in emergency rooms or with university registration forms, for example), it can also provide your physician with important information that she or he may not otherwise have access to (such as treatments by other healthcare providers or social service case workers). Also, if you change health plans or move away from your community, MCR goes with you to exchange with newly arranged physicians and other healthcare providers. You simply maintain and update these new providers online. Can your services and products be customized for employer groups and organizations? Yes. Employer groups and organizations will be able to implement our products and services in a manner that is consistent with their brand identity. For example, digital device membership cards can carry the organization’s logo. Custom features will also be implemented to meet the unique needs of member groups. Looking ahead, as we always do, we will continue to invent new features and components designed to add value at no additional cost to existing employer groups and organizations. If I don't have access to a computer, can I still keep a PHR? Yes. A simple confidential file folder with copies of your health records can be very valuable in documenting your health. Electronic MCR™s may be more efficient than paper, especially once more physicians move to electronic health records, but the important thing is to have a single source of your health information, in whatever format you choose. The Basic Plan offers you this method. Is my vital medical information secure? Yes. All of your personal vital medical information is entered in a private, secure server, using encryption similar to your banking institution. Our servers have 24/7 default protection to assure continuous access and availability. Adherence to HIPAA guidelines and standards of these electronic records are based on these industry standards. No one has access to your records without your written consent. The transmittal is sent under password protection to first responders whom we verify their identity before sending out the transmittal. Only you and those you give your consent and password to have access to your information. Will my insurance company or my employer have access to my MCR? No. Insurance companies and employers will not have access to your personal information, unless you provide a written informed consent to exchange information with your employer or insurance company. When you register for our program and accept our Terms of Use Agreement, you can authorize MCR Global Inc. to obtain and or release your information to physicians, nurses, or EMTs who need to treat you, and any other individual you identify to access or update your information, such as your primary care physician or family member. What if I lose my digital device and don’t have it in an emergency? We will send you the replacement device within 14 business days to the address on your file. The cost of the replacement is $19.99 plus $5.95 shipping and handling (USA members only). How does my medical information get updated? With internet access, a username, and password, you can update your information online anytime. If necessary, our customer service representatives can help you complete or update your record. Members may call, fax, mail or e-mail updated information at any time, particularly following routine medical visits, change of medication or treatment. Why does it matter whether my MCR™ is a legal record or not? MCR generally are not part of a provider’s electronic health record, they are not considered legal health records and therefore, are not covered by HIPAA. Healthcare providers, therefore, will rely on the information contained in their legal, HIPAA covered records. This is all well and good however it is up to you to make sure that healthcare providers have access to the additional and updated information in your MCR™ that is not included in their own records. For example, you may wish to include your advance directive in our MCR™ and often emergency contact information changes. Who can benefit from our digital devices and transmittal service? Our digital devices are ideal for children, students, travelers, seniors, special needs populations, prescription drug users, unmarried life partners, high risk professionals, traveling business executives, and just about anyone who prefers to be prepared for a medical emergency. Our programs empower consumers with a connection to a secure, electronic health record benefiting individuals and families with peace of mind and improved access to vital health information. What is the On Demand Crisis Response Transmittal ServiceTM (ODCRTS)? The ODCRTS is patent pending unique crisis transmittal service used during a personal medical emergency or a disaster that allows first responders and other emergency medical staff immediate access to your vital medical information, anywhere and at anytime. This is a secure, password protected transmittal service that allows first responders to access your information via smart phone, telephone, fax, email, and/or internet. Since it is protected by patent law in the United States and in foreign countries no other MCR organization has such a valuable and innovative program that will save lives, avoid unnecessary cost in the emergency room while avoiding delays, omission, and medical errors. Most importantly, this service will empower you when you are most vulnerable. How is the Information accessed? Insert your digital device in any computer USB port then Click Download.
